Liberia have completed their second training session in preparation of the CHAN qualifier with Senegal on 24 July at the SKD Sports Complex and the team go to camp tonight.
Caretaker coach Thomas Kojo spearheaded the session which included 28 players in the absence of ‘’standing coach’’ Ansu Keita who wasn’t available because of compassionate leave.
Physical trainer George Gebro and Goalkeeper trainer Nathaniel Sherman ably assisted in the early Thursday morning workout at the SKD Practice pitch.
The players are currently gathering at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in central Monrovia after which they will be whisked to their George M. Weah Technical Center training camp in Careysburg later tonight ahead of their CHAN first leg with Senegal in just over two weeks’ time.
The international CHAN-fixture between Liberia and Senegal is the first international match approved by CAF to be played at the SKD Sports Complex in nearly three years since the stadium was banned from hosting international matches for not meeting minimum stadium requirements sanctioned by FIFA and CAF standards.
Meanwhile, the international friendly with neighbors Sierra Leone which was scheduled for this Sunday, 10 July has been cancelled with the consent of both CAF association countries.
Sierra Leone though, like Liberia were supposedly using the friendly to prepare for their double-header CHAN ties with Cape Verde over the weekend of 22-24 July.
