The Independent Radio Network (IRN) is a coalition of more than 50 community and private radio stations dotted across the 16 administrative and political districts of Sierra Leone. The overall mission of IRN is to produce and broadcast public interest content that is trustworthy, impartial, issue-based, and providing a platform for dialogue and conversation on issues of national development.
The network provides coverage of important national developments such as elections, pandemics and other related matters. Over the years, IRN has proven to be a reliable and trusted channel of communication, particularly through its independent coverage of national elections since 2002, providing real-time information on pre-polling and polling activities across the country including the announcement of provisional results as published in the polling stations. This has made IRN the go-to platform for elections-related information.
Key Responsibilities include;
As part of its 2023 Elections coverage plan, IN requires the services of a competent individual to serve as Senior Producer.
Implement the editorial position of IN on all IN production and ensures that the content, integrity and quality of the output is maintained;
Supervise the use of the IN studio facilities by personnel from constituent radio stations;
Supervise District Correspondents;
Responsible for all IRN productions.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required:
A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior editorial and supervisory position in broadcasting or radio production;
Extensive knowledge in radio production and ability to use digital editing facilities;
A creative mind and a keen understanding of the objectives of IRN;
Experience in maintaining high journalistic standards of objectivity, balance and fairness;
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes.
Duration:
Six months contract subject to renewal based on performance. Salary is attractive
